The Bhut Jolokia, also known as the Ghost Chilli or Ghost Pepper, is a legendary super-hot Capsicum chinense variety originating from Northeast India. It produces elongated wrinkled pods that ripen from green to bright red and was once officially recognised as the world’s hottest chilli.

Known for its delayed but intense heat, the burn typically builds over 30–45 seconds before developing into a deep, long-lasting heat exceeding 1 million Scoville Heat Units. The flavour profile is fruity, slightly floral, earthy, and smoky, making it highly valued for both heat and flavour.

The Bhut Jolokia is widely used in hot sauces, salsas, curries, BBQ rubs, powders, marinades, and infused oils, pairing especially well with tropical fruits and smoked dishes.
