Jay’s Red Ghost Scorpion is a legendary Capsicum chinense superhot hybrid created by grower Jay Weaver in Pennsylvania from a cross between Trinidad Scorpion and Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) genetics. It is widely recognised for its savage delayed heat and heavily twisted, bumpy pod appearance.

Pods ripen from green through orange to a rich deep red colour and develop extremely wrinkled, thin skin with a highly distorted texture. Heat levels commonly range from 800,000 to over 1,100,000 Scoville Heat Units, delivering an oily lingering burn that strongly hits the tongue and back of the throat.

The flavour profile is floral, slightly sweet, fruity, and aromatic, lacking much of the bitterness often associated with other Scorpion varieties. Due to its intense heat and rich flavour, Jay’s Red Ghost Scorpion is highly valued for premium hot sauces, powders, mash, flakes, and other extreme chilli products.
