The Yellow Devil’s Tongue is a highly productive Capsicum chinense variety known for its intense heat, strong citrus-forward flavour, and elongated wrinkled pods. The pods ripen from lime green to a vibrant golden-yellow colour and typically develop twisted shapes with rough textured skin.

Heat levels commonly range between 125,000 and 350,000+ Scoville Heat Units, delivering a powerful lingering burn comparable to hot Habanero varieties. The flavour profile is notably sweet, fruity, citrusy, and slightly tangy, making it highly valued for flavour-focused hot sauces and tropical-style chilli products.

Originally believed to have been discovered growing among Habaneros by an Amish farmer in Pennsylvania during the 1990s, the Yellow Devil’s Tongue is thought to trace its roots back to Caribbean chilli genetics.

Due to its bright citrus flavour and strong heat, it is especially popular for tropical hot sauces, salsas, marinades, chilli flakes, and powders.
